Openwings Call For Experts,
The Openwings Space Services Specification Request has been approved
(OSR_004). The Call for Experts (CAFE) will be open through February 23,
2001. Here is a summary of this specification:
The Spaces Expert Team focuses on providing a secure, available context for
system formation and service discovery. It is the job of the space to
provide the core services required for self-forming and self-healing
systems. These services include the following (items with a * are defined in
other specifications): installation services, storage services (*),
discovery services, processing services (*), network services, security
services (*), and management services (*). Installation services provide a
way to deploy components into a space. Storage services provide the storage
necessary to install applications and maintain state. Discovery services
provide for discovery in the space and outside of the space. Processing
Services provide a container to run components in that prescribes code
security, resource management, availability, and clustering. Network
services provide the ability to form and access LAN and WANs dynamically.
Security services provide the services needed to authenticate and authorize
access. Management services provide a mechanism to administer the space and
components it contains.
