My team will be releasing an IDL datatype implementation of a ResultSet
specifically designed to support marshalling of a Java ResultSet object over
RMI/IIOP. For thos application servers like Sybase EAServer or Inprise, etc
who fully implement IIOP marshalling we will be able to pass this ResultSet
as an IDL type making for a significatn increase in performance of
marshalling result sets over the standard serialized marshalling needed for
the CachedRowSet implmentation. For those application servers unable to do
this, the ResultSet can be marshalled by Java Serialization.
The implementation will be released as OpenSource to the EJB community. We
hope to have this over the next very few weeks and will announce it here as
well as TheServerSide.com.
