Same difference isn't it?  Java runs the methods that you want access to?
If this is not, perhaps you should consider writing your C program and then
providing a CORBA interface to it and then have the Java program have a CORBA
interface, so that they can talk to one another.  There are also RMI-CORBA and
RMI-(DCOM/ActiveX) bridges that could help.
