Yes, Borland AppServer 4.5.x provides pessimistic locking in a
clustered configuration, when using CMP. (From what I understand,
IBM's forthcoming EJB 1.1 product also has the similar capabilities.)
I also might note that in CMP we also enforce the rule that primary
keys are immutable. That is, if an attempt is made to modify a
PK value after the ejbCreate method, an exception is thrown. This
is forward compatible with EJB 2.0.
