Dear Community Members,

I am pleased to announce the general availability of GigaSpaces (formerly
J-Spaces) Platform 1.1, available for free evaluation at:
http://www.GigaSpaces.com.

GigaSpaces is a state-of-the-art Distributed Shared Memory (DSM) service. It
fully implements sun's JavaSpaces(tm) specification.
Our current 1.1 release includes major enhancements that makes it extremely
cost-effective for web and enterprise services that need to build scalable,
collaborative applications in a simple and fast manner.

Here is a brief summary of the most important changes and improvements:

Enhancement for web-services applications:
* Web Container integration (Tomcat). Our platform include an embedded
version of tomcat. This makes the process of building distributed and
collaborative web services applications extremely simple and easy.
* Distributed Session Management api. Session could be shared across
several servers/containers through almost the same Session Api.
* SOAP client - makes the space an ideal platform for sharing and
exchanging information for mobile, remote and even none java clients.
* Open Directory services integration: The GigaSpaces platform supports
both the JNDI directory interface and JINI dynamic discovery interface.

Enhancement for E.A.I and messaging applications:
* Messaging Classes - Queues and Notifications with Entries: Simplifies
building messaging oriented applications with spaces. Queues are FIFO
Channels on top of spaces. NotifyDelegator now enables the receipt of a
RemoteEvent together with the Entry that triggered it.

* In addition to that we provided a separate framework for Peer To
Peer communication named SpaceBus under the a free source license also
available for download through our web site.

Open integration with backed persistent storage for flexibly and
reliability:
* Out of the box integration with IBM cloudscape. ( this db is
included with our product ).
* Users can use an external RDBMS for persistency trough our
generic JDBC driver.
* Persistent spaces now use an LRU based, size-configurable Cache
Manager.
