I personally use log4j extensively for tracing, in conjunction with
JUnit for testing/debugging. Works very well. I've written a web console
that allows me to pick & run the JUnit tests individually or as a group,
and then see the results of that plus the log4j messages that were
created during the test run, in HTML. Very convenient.
