Hi,

Although I am completely in development and havent ever looked into
legal matters, I think there are basically two kinds of General Public
License.

One is free for development and redistribution whereas the other one
says : free for development , but not for redistribution.

This site gives you a good description of each of them.

I basically fail to digest why people release something as FreeSource?I
understand it is done to bring out the best. If so, then why is this
concept not extended to other forms of "Engineering"? Why dont people
build bridges for free, why dont people construct marvellous buildings
for free?so that others can emulate and design better buildings?

Is it that human effort goes unpaid? Or do they get involved in a long
term investment.

Ramki.
