Thanks.

Still as I understand it the deployment tool (The one that takes the ear and deploy in the J2EE container ) is proprietary.

Is there a set of ANT targets or other utilities to ease the deployment task ?

1. you can download sun's J2EE-RI which is a non comercial J2EE server. if your app can be deployed and run on it with no trouble than it is probably portable.

2. you can try and contact sun about the AVK (application verification kit). look it up on sun's web site.

Subject: Portable EJB containers tools

Hi

My name is nati and Im currently consulting to an ISV who is building a J2EE ear which should be deployed in a protable manner between various J2EE containers such as IBM , BEA , etc.

Are there any tools that provides a portable deployment and archiving tool ?

From your experience what should I expect or try to avoid when I try to build a portable EAR ?

Thanks.

Nati S.
