1. Use bmp if you want to manage persistence and relationships yourself. CMP/CMR in 2.0 is more manageable ( less code ) than BMP/DAO. 2. Container uses Class.newInstance() to create new Bean object. 3. From what I have read in the spec, Container transaction management has nothing to do with how resource managers ( database, ERP etc ) support transactions. Someone can correct me on this if I am wrong.
