Try to set the header and content-type of the response object in the jsp
using following code.
<%@ page contentType="application/vnd.ms-excel" %>
or else use
response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel");
and if u want to download the file set the response header
String filename = "pcs.doc";
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment;filename=" +
fileName );

Hi,
We are able to "get" PDF files when placed on the root folder of an
application directory in
WebLogic 6.1 server. Browser recognizes PDF file format and launches Acrobat
reader
But when we try to get word or xls files, browser doesn't launch word or
excel and displays contents.
There is no problem with the association in the file types and executable,
as I successfully "got" a xls file
from IIS Server on the browser and it launched Excel properly and rendered
content in it.
Please let me know if I need to do some setting on Weblogic 6.1 server.
Environment:
Weblogic 6.1 App Server
Windows 2000 professional
