Eh, funny piece of information : when I'm off-network, then ekiga runs correctly.
Since a few weeks, I haven't had time to use or hack on ekiga at home (ie: online), only during spare time at work (that's few... and offline) -- so perhaps that problem is several weeks old and I couldn't notice :-(
