Hello, I am using a Philips SPC620NC webcam using the v4l2 driver. Ekiga version is 2.0.12 (from Ubuntu Hardy). Ekiga's configuration druid successfully performs all the tests. I can also access the webcam sucessfully using e.g. mplayer and luvcview (example screenshot: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15698358/Screenshot-MPlayer-1.png ).
In ekiga however, the video display is mangled. It is solely in green and has horizontal stripes all over. I have uploaded a screenshot to http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15698333/Screenshot-Ekiga.png I have also enquired on the linux-uvc driver list about this issue. I was told that such a phenomenon might happen if ekiga receives yuv data but interprets it as png. Interestingly enough, luvcview tells me that my camera only sends in yuv: # luvcview -f jpg luvcview version 0.2.1 Video driver: x11 A window manager is available video /dev/video0 Unable to set format: 22. Init v4L2 failed !! exit fatal and directly terminates. nokile:~/projekte/s3fs$ luvcview -f yuv luvcview version 0.2.1 Video driver: x11 A window manager is available video /dev/video0 shows the picture nicely. However, I also heard that other people with webcams who deliver only yuv are running ekiga nicely, so I suppose it is not a principal problem. Does someone have an idea how I can fix this problem? Is there an option to force ekiga to use the yuv format or something like that? Thanks in advance! Best, -Nikolaus -- »It is not worth an intelligent man's time to be in the majority.
