I converted (perverted?) my EEE 4G from the installed Linux (which does have Skype pre-installed) to eeeXubuntu. http://wiki.eeeuser.com/ubuntu:eeexubuntu:home One of the (few) options for Xubuntu softphone installs was Ekiga. After some sound config confusion I ran the echo test. Worked great.
