I have the same issue with debian lenny and gcc 4.3. But it work fine with gcc 4.2.4., at first i think is was an issue with my RAM, but after adding more RAM (on a virtual host), i still got this problem. Thus make me think of a gcc 4.3 bug, try to compile with another version like 4.2.
