I'm having the same problem (using Diamondcard), and no, I'm not reachable when that happens. This is the main reason that I'm using Twinkle.
I've reported this before (on the mailing list iirc) and have been asked to provide log output, but being short on time and running Twinkle because of this, I haven't gotten around to do that (yet).
