Introduction The economic
development of the Islamic countries is important to
ensure the
economic stability of the countries. Economic problems
faced by most
developing countries have to be tackled to avoid Muslim
from being
ignored. Currently Muslims fund were estimated at about
USD300
billion and would increase up to USD1 trillion by 2013.
These funds
consist of deposits in banks, funds in baitulmal such
as zakah,
sadaqah and waqf. If these funds are utilized
effectively and
efficiently, they could increase the socio-economics of
a country
specifically and improve the economic of the ummah
provided
they are carried out based on syariah rulings and
principles.
The third
conference of Islamic Economics (iECONS) 2009 is thus
another
earnest effort undertaken by the Faculty of Economics
and Muamalat,
Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) to
discuss the
opportunities and challenges in expanding the business
and economics
development among Islamic countries.
Objectives of the
Conference:
as a catalyst
to the economic development and social progress
of Islamic
countries and Muslim communities.
to disseminate
information and opportunities for economic
development of
Islamic countries.
to become a
platform for exchanging ideas between experts.
to enhance the
management ability and efficiency in developing
economics of the
ummah.
The conference will
be held on 15-17 July 2009 at USIM, Malaysia. All
