Hi Brendan,
We're writing a Windows based KRC2 utility right now that will allow the
user to map any combination of its output antenna relay drivers based
upon what band it decodes. (You will be able to check off on the screen
which antenna relays (one or more) are enabled per band.) This will
allow users to re-map their antenna selections for different set up,
like field day or contest usage versus casual home use. This is what we
described in the manual and is the primary piece of configuration code
that we planned to bring out. I should have it done in the next 2 weeks
and will post it to the Elecraft web page for free download.
Reprogramming the functionality of the buttons is something that we had
not planned to do, since it requires a hard code change (and recompile)
versus a simple configuration table change as is used for the band
decoding. I'll talk to Jack to see if this is something that could be
done easily in the future.

want short presses of the F1 to f4 buttons to trigger the K2's memory
keyer playback.
Yes. You don't even need to reconfigure the box to do it. Simply
install jumper W8 to disable key presses. This is described on page 20
of the KRC2 manual.
A second way is to install the Accessibility upgrade which has all
sorts of functions, but no sending of CW message from the K2 memories.

Jack, the problem with that method is that it disables ALL key presses.
I want to be able to select alternative antennas by using the F1 and F2
Buttons. (& being able to use short presses for this would be nice too but that
will have to wait for the KRC2 Utility )
In the mean time I was told how to clear the K2 keyer memories. enter
programming mode for the memory you want to clear. send one dit and
press the mem button before the counter increments down from 250 to 249.
You have to be quick.
The KRC2 utility is badly needed, I can think of lots of things I could
get it to do.. If only I could configure it :-(
Is anyone writing a utility for the KRC2 ? If so I can offer my services
to help test it under windows or linux.
Is there any information on how to program the KRC2 available any
place ?
