I have not yet attempted to load CW Skimmer and OmniRig in
Vista or Windows 7 but, in both operating systems the
\Program Files and \Program Files(x86) directories are
protected and do not allow standard user accounts to write
data to any subdirectory in the \Program Files tree.

"Run as Administrator" or turning off "User Account Control"
are both ways to work around the operating system restrictions.
Unless the author modifies the software to store configuration
and data files in a non-protected directory (e.g., the user
data C;\Users\All Users or C;\Users\<login> trees), the best
solution is to manually install the software to a directory
that is not in the \Program Files tree or to a separate drive.
