Ken, I use DX4WIN with my K3 and I notice the same issue. I do not use PSK31 very often and when I do I have the change the mode manually within DX4WIN. This is more than likely a DX4WIN issue with the rig control file for the K3. The software is probably not recognizing the Data A or Data D modes on the K3 and by default assigns RTTY. N1MM contest software provides a way to map the modes in the Configurator. I would think some modification of the rig control file for the K3 is needed in DX4WIN. I would refer this to the DX4WIN reflector.
