Hi

I have not tried it but there are some glow in the dark plastic sheets that 
once charged up with a flashlight will glow brightly for several hours. This 
is not the stuff you played with as a kid. This sheeting will put out some 
serious light for quite a while with only a few seconds charge time. A 3x5 
card of this stuff will light up a room in complete darkness enough to read 
by. My thought would be to replace the K1 display with the one with the 
clear back and place a piece of this glow sheet behind the display. Here is
