I got the same issue and mine is a factory build. Doesn't seem to be hurting 
anything, however.

Yes.

The K3 uses a fiber disk to provide the friction.  The result is a
slight bit of noise as the knob rotates along the disk.  I've read
suggestions to use various other materials including felt.  When the
AF is up I don't even notice it.
