The K3 is the first rig I've used which switches to the transmit mode when the key is closed in PTT mode (on CW). It doesn't actually transmit, of course, but the the receiver mutes and Key Out closes. Where Key Out is used to control an amplifier and/or external antenna relay, those also switch to transmit mode. It would seem to make more sense for the K3 to ignore the key input in PTT mode when PTT IN is open. Or is there a good reason for this behavior that I'm missing?
