If you are not seeing that indication on the ALC meter in the K3, you are not driving the Line-in with enough audio. The K3 "ALC" meter is also a "VU" meter on the lower part of the scale. Indication below 5 bars indicate no ALC is being generated - ALC action begins with the 5th bar. So if you followed the old advice that you should not have any ALC indication for DATA modes, that old advice must be modified for the K3. The K3 Line-in expects to see line level signals.
