Hi Ross, Get yourself an RS232 tester. There's one at amazon.com for $6. With it you can quickly tell if the serial port on either end is working. BTW, you do have the RS232 baud rate the same on the computer and radio?? Cheers, Fred KE7X

I've recently lost the ability to communicate with my K3. I've tried it on two different computers, both with real serial port K3 end of the serial cable, and I have no problem communicating with the FT-817. Ideas on what to check next? Thanks, and 73, Ross N4RP -- FCC Section 97.313(a) "At all times, an amateur station must use the minimum transmitter power necessary to carry out the desired communications." ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
