I have programmed FN4 and FN8 as Fred does. I originally did it in an attempt to cut down on any possible long-term wear of the Tap=QSY button but have gotten used to it and prefer using FN4/8.
Also, as mentioned, it eliminates the problem that some people have caused by turning the knob slightly when tapping it.
