Ha! Matt, now that you've added the statement about turning power off, I
think I know what you are experiencing. See

once before powering off, I expect your KX1 _will_ remember the frequency.

I don't recall it being set when you do TUNE, but it might be. If band
change and single tap of the band button store it, then I think that's normal.

Tapping the middle button only displays the current frequency.
I did a system reset on the KX1 and I will see if that helps.
