Just got done wiring up the speaker on the top cover and looked at the instructions for the internal battery kit and first thing instructed is to DISCONNECT the speaker. Unless I've missed it, nowwhere do the instructions indicate that the speaker is to be re-connected. If this is the case, it's a bummer.
