I run my K3 at 100W on RTTY, KPA500 at 500W [except on 30m -- 200W]. You can monitor the PA Temp in VFO B, it's an option from the DISPLAY button. My K3 never goes above about 57C. I've seen the KPA500 get to about 68C, and then I guess the fan turns up to high, can't hear it with the cans on, and it comes right back down.
