I have ear-splitting volume from a pair of non-amplified speakers from Tivoli Audio (bought for a reasonable price from their outlet store when it was open). The audio amplifier chip is a 3 watt device so it should be plenty loud. I once tried a Kenwood SP-930 and that was loud also.
