Hello Nick, As you will take the trouble to open up the K3 front panel, I suggest you swap the entire DSP board for a peaceful mind. Luckily, my hearing is still very good up to 15Khz. To me, it is day and night difference after the swap. Judging from your serial no, there are quite a number of modification applicable to your K3. All these modifications are not difficult to be installed even for a non-radio man like myself.
