I went through everything with a "fine tooth comb" and this cap was not in the parts bag, nor had it worked itself out of the bag and into the general box. You're probably already aware but sometimes missing parts can appear wedged into other parts - on a couple occasions I swore parts were missing but I'd find a tiny cap stuck inside the inside of a knob or something....
