I've also had my buddie pole for over 2 years. My 1st 10 out of 11 contacts
with it were DX on ten meters. All on 5 watts. It's a really great, albeit
expensive, antenna. The little clips are worn out but they sell
replacements for any worn part. I also use just one of the elements like a
whip or buddi stick on my car (stationary!) and it works just as well. I've
used this antenna a lot! Performance starts to drop on 40, but then I'm
qrp. Sure it would be fine with more power. Now though, I find that
nothing really beats 150' wire (or as long as possible) and my auto tuner on
30 meters to 160meters. Still for sneaking a quick qso at work, it's nice
to stick one element in the cb mount on the car and work. I use a swr
analyzer to find resonance. Oh yeah, I couldn't imagine trying to use this
without an analyzer or you will be fiddling with it forever trying to get
the swr down. Or you could just get it in the ball park and tune it.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Question about Buddipole antenna
I live in an apartment and use the Buddipole as my only antenna. I have
all the parts necessary to make either the standard dipoles or vertical.
All I can say is that it's fantastic. On 2 meters through 20 meters, it's
a fantastic performer. On 30 and 40 meters, it isn't bad, considering how
short it is.
