Craig, this comes up from time to time. Check the speaker mounting for the screws being overly tight and distorting the speaker frame. Or check that the frame is not bent or warped. You have to dismount the speaker to check that.
Don't overly tighten the speaker mounting screws when you replace it. Sometimes, pressing two fingers near the voice coil will remove distortion showing that the voice coil is either under tension or is warped in its centering in the magnet field. Most of these cases turned out to be too much torque in mounting the speaker hardware to the top plate.
