I’ve experienced the exact same behavior with my KPA-500 and simply turned it to stby and back to oper. I dismissed it as something that I was doing wrong and went ahead with my operating. I usually turn on my KPA-500 with my K3 PF2 programed “KPA – on” message of MN019;MP001;MN255;MN019;MP000;MN255 from page 15 of the K3 Remote manual. It works perfectly using the remote rig setup or directly from the front panel K3 PF2, unless I try to use it without the KPA500 plugged in, and then plug it in and try to turn it on. Then I have to cycle the KPA 500 to stby and oper.
