Hello Everybody; I have just completed the latest addition to the "shack", a meticulously constructed KX3. Great amounts of TLC was used, remembering lessons learned from my K2 construction in days gone by.
Looking around for a power cable, I grabbed the DC CAR Adapter cord from my YAESU PA-6, plugged it in to the KX3 and into a 12Amp battery pack I have always on charge. Holding breath, I carefully depressed the power buttons and... NOTHING... AARGH!!! After calming down a bit, recovering from hyper ventilation and the consumption of an adult beverage, I got out the DVM and checked the power plug for voltage. -13.6V negative! What the hey. Checking the YAESU battery pack, I re-learned a lesson from 15 years ago, the polarity is reversed in the charging connection plug. Reversed the voltage connection and violets! Its Alive! Didn't take any lightning either. Great thanks to the Expert Engineering Arm of the Elecraft Co. Also to the Lads and Lassies that packed all the correct parts so well. Best regards to All.
