Ed,
Since it powers on in transmit, first be certain it is connected to a
dummy load so you don't pop the finals.
First thing to check is anything connected to the Key jack or the Mic
jack - if there is, remove them and see if the problem goes away..
If it does not, you will have to do some measurements inside to
determine the source of the problem. Send me an email when you are able
to do some troubleshooting.

I just relocated my op desk to another room, labeled all cables and
reconnected all accordingly. When I switch on my K2 (s/n 06050) it comes
up in transmit... constantly. There is a loud tone from the speaker, the
display lights up with, first, Elecraft, and then the frequency is
displayed. No controls function at all.
Until I am able to reorganize from this move I am not able to do any major
troubleshooting. Hopefully this issue has a relatively simple solution and
the solution is obvious to someone on the list. Since all controls are
seemingly locked I am not able to copy down any settings.
