Right. My mistake. The underscore does not appear. The asterisk *does* appear when the key line is grounded, enabling the KPA500. So the asterisk should *not* appear while the KAT500 is tuning.
If Bill sees the asterisk while the KAT500 is tuning, the KPA500 is not inhibited which will cause the KPA500 to fault. 73, Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- From: dse...@dseven.org [mailto:dse...@dseven.org] On Behalf Of iain macdonnell - N6ML Sent: Saturday, March 16, 2013 8:32 PM To: Ron D'Eau Claire Cc: Bill Wiehe; elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3, KPA500, KAT500 interactiions In the standard configuration, the KAT500 does not explicitly inhibit the KPA500 - rather it interrupts the keying line (by opening relay contacts). My setup is remote, so I can't confirm this, but the underscore should not be displayed in this case. This does require keying to be routed through the KAT500, using the ACC cables, and no other keying path should be in place (e.g. RCA direct from K3 to KPA500). 73, ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
