That's been my experience here in west suburban Chicago, Richard. Every couple of weeks I listen for the CW nets. On a few occasions I’ve been able to hear the NCS signal in the noise but not well enough for any kind of sustained copy. It's also rare that I can copy the stations checking one. Every now and then, one of them is a little ways above the noise but not by much.
Maybe there could be a Western Elecraft net and an Eastern or Midwestern Elecraft net.
