I've never heard of a 1225 but have a 1223 and a 1235. I have both and they have been running strong 27/7 for just about 7 years never a single problem. But I do have proper voltage to run them also. QST did find them a best buy and not long ago either I can attest to that also and no noise.
I seems like you must have some sort of problem on your end as I know a lot of people with and no problems with them either.
