Hi Doug I have replaced all my cable both above and buried with LMR-400 series coax. In fact after doing testing I now use the DXE series MAX400 (best prices and free shipping) same properties and you get it all in one coax DB/UF/400 combined. I recently replaced about 500' of older 7 yr old coax for it on towers and buried. For QRP I always use the lowest loss coax at home where I have longer than 10-15' of coax.
I don't want to lose any of my signal from the antenna to the radio so I always use the best coax I can for all HF apps, coax is cheap for what it does and you expect of it. -----Original Message----- From: elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Doug Person Sent: Friday, June 21, 2013 10:03 PM To: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Elecraft] Colorado to New Zealand on 10 watts Well, I just replaced my 12 year old buried feed line with some new double-shielded RG-8X. Just to test it out, I connected the antenna system to the KX3. My antenna system consists of 3 trap dipoles: 80/40, 30/17/12 and 20/15/10. I switched to 17 and tuned around. I heard ZL1BD calling CQ. After a few tries Al came back to me with 100% copy. I wouldn't exactly call the band wide open. But, that was a very impressive QSO. For me, after 52 years of hamming - that was a record breaker. See? QRP DOES work! vry 72, de Doug K0DXV ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ----- No virus found in this message.
