I used a BY1 mobile for 5 years. It sat on the seat next to me, though occasionally a fast stop in traffic sent it into the firewall. No idea why I didn't think to tether it. Try that with a Hexkey! It's still in daily use in the shack and must be at least 30 years old now. Terrific key. Simple and rugged. When I tried to order replacement nylon pivots (they wore out), Bencher replaced them for free. Customer service Elecraft-style.

If you are not in a hurry and don't mind a "used" Bencher BY-1, look around at
hamfests, I got a BY-1 for $60.0 (10 or 12 years ago.....maybe more now).....It wasn't
(isn't) perfect cosmetically but functions as well as a new one.

That is correct, but the cost is $325, as compared to HRO's price of $220;
including free shipping.
