That makes sense. Brian wrote RX - the abbreviation for receiver - by
accident in his original post. 

So he wants two K3s connected together with an outboard TR switch that will
allow either one or both to transmit without damaging the receiver front end
on the other.

Yes, Brian explained in a private message that that was part of his concern.
It sounds like he actually wants two independent transceivers since he wants
to be able to transmit on either.  There are some admittedly clunky ways
around that as well, though.
