Can anyone suggest a reasonable priced LCD monitor to use with the SVGA card in the P3? Looking for one that is quiet with NO RFI noisy power supply. The one I use on my desktop (older Samsung LCD) has to be unplugged it's so bad. Monitor does not need to be one of the gigantic ones, it will sit on a shelf over the radio.
I went through this about a year ago. I put out a post on the email reflectors for several local radio clubs looking for older VGA and SVGA displays that had been replaced by newer ones. Within a few weeks, I had accumulated about ten displays. I kept the best ones, gave away the rest to another ham. All were either 1024 x 768 or 1280 x, and all worked fine with the P3. I was able to make all of them quiet with my standard common mode chokes. One has a PSU that is quiet on the ham bands but kills FM broadcast. A nearly new Samsung BX2250 "Syncmaster" monitor that has touch-controls, has really bad RFI susceptibility -- it goes nuts and eventually shuts down with only 100W on 160M about 25 ft away, even with all the wiring heavily choked.
