We use a Brady labeler for wires. Labels Chemical / oil resistant and it works 
well. Not sure what the unit costs. Buts it's made for this. Granger has a good 
supply.

I use a brother labeler at home. It's ok for COAX but not great for smaller 
gauge. It's a bit large for CAT5.

For large cables I've seen people use different patterns and colors of 
electrical tape.
