LS,

I would try pliers first, but watch the process as you apply pressure. It may assist if you damage the case more with your soldering iron (melt more of the plastic) until you can get an Exacto knife edge into it to help with the process. As I said, use any tool that works - just be careful not to damage other nearby components.
