It's OK to change the KX1 assembly procedure to avoid making the receiver mods needed for the KXB3080. However, I'd recommend that you still wind and install the low-pass filter inductors, L1 and L2, as shown in the KX1 manual. Then, test the rig on 40 and 20 meters to make sure everything is working. It's a simple matter to remove L1 and L2 when you're ready to install the "LPF1" board that comes with the KXB3080 kit.

If you decide to annotate your KX1 manual to reflect the KXB3080-related receiver changes, please let me know. If it works out better for you, we'd be happy to post the list of changes on our web site.

But rest assured that the rig will work either way!
