Hi Gary
Even easier - I use a regular RCA patch cable (came with my keyer
anyway) and a Radio Shack RCA to 1/8" stereo adapter (don't have RS #)
with my CMOS-4. The adapter takes RCA center conductor to both tip and
ring. Works with my KX1 and FT-897. Handy, and, with no cutting and
soldering to one of those nasty 1/8" stereo plugs which always seem to
be chrome-plated and tough to solder, probably more reliable too!

Hi Gary,
Sorry for the delayed response to your question. I was away from email
for a long weekend (hooray!). I don't have a KX1, so I don't know
exactly, but I do have a CMOS-4 (and an Elecraft K2). The CMOS-4 uses
an RCA jack for the key output. To interface my K2 to my CMOS-4 keyer,
I took an RCA patch cable, cut off the RCA connector on the end, and
soldered a 1/8" stereo plug instead. Of course the cable ground shield
should be connected to the RCA ground shield on one end and the stereo
ground shield on the other. I can't recall if the inner connector from
the RCA plug should be connected to the tip or the ring of the stereo
plug, but I suspect it doesn't matter.

the wiring of the cable between the keyer and the KX1? Thanks...Gary
