I went thru the same thinking when I bought my KX2 — internal tuner versus
external T1 tuner.

The added and simplified convenience of the internal KX2 tuner won out over the
price of the tuner. However, my T1 is still important — using it with my KX1
and Norcal 40A. But, I admit that they are hard to pick up and use for
portable QRP ops anymore preferring the KX2 instead — I may never use them
again unless I force myself to go backwards in time (aka nostalgia) and use a
simpler KX1/Norcal 40A.
