I have similar experience, but by different cause.
My P3 sometimes went almost deaf. When that became frequently, I tried to make
troubleshooting.
First, I suspected K3’s IF out buffer amp, but finally I found that the IF
interface (between K3 and P3) coaxial cable supplied by Elecraft was the cause.
Either fitting between coaxial cable and BNC connector or BNC connector itself
might be wrong. Replacing the cable with my home-made cable have completely
solved the problem.
