My K3, of a similar vintage, had the same problem. The URL above describes the problem, and a permanent fix. I didn't trust myself to change the pins on the mother board, so I used a temporary "bypass operation" - jumper wires around the two connectors to the PA. Done with 4 short wires. Elecraft was kind enough to send me pictures of the installation. Has been working well for 7 years.
If the radio ever goes back to the factory, they'll change the pins for me.
